Ecuador Mountain Climbing, Jungle and Galapagos (22 days)

This tour will show you the whole variety of Ecuador, leading you from the highlands, with their beautiful mountains, lagoons and colorful markets to the rain forest and Galapagos where you have the possibility to explore the abundant flora and fauna. In 22 days you climb accompanied by our mountain guides Mount Pichincha, Mount Cotopaxi and Mount Chimborazo, ride on the famous train, to the Devil's Nose, visit the indigenous market of Otavalo, after the highland and climbing part of this tour you are invited to enjoy our extensions: an adventure trip in the Jungle and a pleasure trip to the enchanted Galapagos Island. Day 1: Quito - Hotel
Transfer Airport - Hotel

Day 2: City Tour Quito - Hostel
We'll start our tour with the visit of the main attractions of Quito. After lunch we'll see the monument of Mitad del Mundo, where the equatorial line passes. We'll visit the anthropological museum and we'll walk along the latitude 00°00'00". Overnight in a hostel. (B)

Day 3: Quito - Cuicocha - Quito - Hotel
We'll hike approximately 4 hours around the Lagoon of Cuicocha. After lunch we'll continue our trip to the famous indigenous market of Otavalo. In the afternoon we'll return to Quito. Night in Hotel. (B - BL)

Day 4: Quito - Guagua Pichincha (4784 m) - Machachi - Hostel
We'll ascend the Guagua Pichincha, a volcanic crater. After a hike of 1-2 hours we'll reach the summit. We'll continue our trip to Machachi. Overnight in a hotel. (B - BL)

Day 5: Hostel - Cotopaxi National Park - Camp
Trip by jeep to the Cotopaxi National Park, where we'll hike across the páramo and visit El Salitre. Today's ramble will serve as an acclimatization. Overnight in our camp. (B - BL - D)

Day 6: Camp - Refuge José Ribas Hut (4800 m)
Trip to the Cotopaxi parking space. After a hike of 45 min. we'll reach the refuge José Ribas. If the weather is good we'll do another hike in order to practice the use of the snow equipment. (B - BL - D)

Day 7: Refuge - Summit of Cotopaxi (5897 m) - Hotel Cuello de Luna
At midnight, after a short breakfast, we'll start the ascent, and after 7hours we'll reach the summit. From there we'll have a fantastic view on the crater, with its diameter of 800m. After the descent we'll continue our tour to the Cuello de Luna Hotel. (B - BL)

Day 8: Hotel Cuello de Luna - Chugchilán - Hostel
We'll leave Hotel Cuello de Luna, driving eastwards to Chugchilán, a picturesque village, where we can get an insight of the everyday life of the Indigenous people. Night in Hotel. (B - BL)

Day 9: Chugchilán - Quilotoa-Riobamba
After the breakfast our jeep will bring us to the Lagoon of Quilotoa, where we'll undertake an easy hike of two hours to then continue our trip to Riobamba, where we'll pass the night. (B - BL)

Day 10: Riobamba - Train to the Devil's nose - Refuge Hermanos Carrel (4800m)
We follow the trail Alausí - Sibambe by train, which drives around the famous devil's nose. In the afternoon we'll start off to the Chimborazo where we pass the night in the Hermanos Carrel hut. (B - D)

Day 11: Hut - Whymper refuge (5000m)
Day of acclimatization. Today we'll move to the Whymper refuge, where we prepare our climbing equipment. Dinner and night in the refuge. (B - BL - D)

Day 12: Refuge - Summit Chimborazo (6310 m) - Baños - Hotel
At midnight we'll start the ascent, passing the glacier, and after 8 hours we'll reach the highest summit of Ecuador. Trip to Baños and overnight in a hotel. (B - BL)

Day 13: Baños - Quito
This picturesque town offers you a lot of possibilities to spend an unforgettable day... You can relax in the famous hot springs, visit some of the numerous waterfalls like for example the Pailon del Diablo or do some biking or horseback riding. (B)

Jungle Extension (daily departure)

Day 14: Flight Quito - Lago Agrio - Cuyabeno Reserve 
Arrive by bus or plane to Lago Agrio, a bus ride to the control point of the reserve where we will have to pay USD 20   for the entrance fee. Boarding a canoe you will float down several rivers until you get to the Selva Rica Cuyabeno Camp. In the afternoon you go jungle walking. Dinner and brief discussion. (B - D)

Day 15: Bird watching - Piranha Fishing
Early morning bird watching. Breakfast and departure on jungle trek (3 hours). The guide will explain to you the natural power of the plants. Lunch in the afternoon there will be time to fish piranhas. Return to the camp and discussion. (B - BL - D)

Day 16: Shaman Indian Community -   Alligators Observation
Breakfast and visit to an Indian Community where if it is possible we will see the Shaman. Lunch. In the afternoon walk around the Indian Community to be in contact with the Indigenous and their lives. Dinner and at night we will go to see alligators. (B - BL - D)

Day 17:   Back to Lago Agrio - Flight to Quito   
Early in the morning short walk to see birds. Breakfast and we will go by canoe to the port to take the bus back to Lago Agrio to take the plane to return to Quito. (B)

Extension Galapagos (departures on Mondays)

Day 18:   Baltra Airport - Charles Darwin Station
Arrival to the airport of Baltra approximately 12:40 p.m..   After a trip in bus of 2 hours 30 minutes, we will be transferred to the Island of Santa Cruz (Ayora Port).   In the afternoon we will visit the Station "Charles Darwin" , recognized internationally by its conservation work, as well as the facilities of the National Park Galápagos where we will have the opportunity to observe the scientific advances in the conversation of the diverse species of flora and fauna of each one of the Galapagos islands in their conservatories.   Later on a walk through Puerto Ayora village you will have time to buy souvenirs.   At night after the supper you might want to enjoy the attractive nightlife of the island Santa Cruz (D)

Day 19: Santa Cruz highland - Santa Fe Island
After breakfast the High Part of Santa Cruz will be visited. We observe the "Gemelos", two craters surrounded by escalecia trees, in addition here is the reserve of turtles of Galapagos where beautiful turtles in natural state can be observed, it is also a good place to see Darwin finches and other types of birds.   Returning to the yacht we will enjoy lunch.  

In the afternoon we will be transferred to a calm water bay, with seals, sparrow hawks and terrestrial iguanas in the Island Santa Fé, this trip will take approximately two hours.   We will be able to admire the forest of giant cactus, enjoy the beach and do snorkeling.   Back on the our yacht supper will be served and a passage of approximately five hours takes you to Española Island. Day 20: Española Island
After breakfast we will visit Punta Suárez on Española Island.   It is an extraordinarily exciting site.   You will enjoy walking between two colonies of marine birds, bluefooted Bobbies and masked bobbies, between the months of April to December you will also appreciate a colony to waved albatrosses and as natural spectacle near the sea the Blowing Hole.   Returning to the yacht lunch will be served.  

In the afternoon we will make a short crossing from about 30 minutes to Gardner Bay, located on the same island.   This beach of white sand is formed by the erosion of white chorale.   It's a good spot to swim and to dive.   At night supper will be served and our boat will travel approximately five hours until arriving at the Floreana island.. Day 21:    Floreana Island
After breakfast you will have a wet disembarkation and walk in the middle of the vegetation to arrive at a beach of white sand.   The Crown of   Devil is the most often visited site of this island.   It consists of a volcanic formation in which you have the unique opportunity to do snorkeling in company of inoffensive sharks.   Lunch.   In the afternoon we will visit Post Office, Cormorant End and the Lagoon of Flamingos. The tragic history of the Wagner Baroness and her three lovers gives a melancholic touch to the Floreana island. (B -   BL - D)

Day 22:   North Seymour Island- Baltra Airport
Today you will visit Creek Black Turtle, which is located close to Baltra.   This site is very special for its precious and calm beach where seals and several species of birds can be observed.   After this last visit you will be transferred to the airport of Baltra to take your flight back to Quito or Guayaquil.
